I’ve got a bad case of planter's thumb!
So busy at the moment in the "seed sowing/potting on" department here at CQ HQ!

I've been madly washing out plastic containers. I mostly use things that have contained blueberries or raspberries, sometimes they don’t have holes in the bottom though so I have to do this myself, either by putting said container on a piece of wood and banging a nail in several times or heating up a skewer and melting a hole in the bottom, I don’t recommend this though as it can be a bit hit and miss. Some of the containers already have holes in the bottom which is great.

I use a seed compost, peat free of course and because chillis, peppers and aubergines have to be started so early and as my greenhouse is unheated, these have all been brought into the kitchen and I've put them above a radiator on a window sill. I am pleased to say that almost everything has come up!  Over the next few weeks I will be pricking out and potting on, please join me in the green house on Instagram @cqgardens or on FB - CQ gardens

Thanks my followers I’ve had lots of good advice about which strawberries to grow, they are in my greenhouse and I shall be planting up this week.

The rest of the garden has a real feel of spring about it, despite the fact that we've only had a couple of days of sunshine. The daffodils are going over but the blossom is out on the ornamental cherry and the fruit trees are coming into leaf.

I hope this finds you well, dry and full of chocolate!

Please do let me know how you're getting on with your plants, be they in 40 acres of land, on a balcony, on a window sill or in your mind’s eye.

Lots of love

Caroline

I have gardener’s finger nails – they are always dirty despite scrubbing with soap and a nail brush!! But I LOVE getting my hands in the soil this time of year – you can really begin to feel the warmth. Potatoes planted, raddish, dahlias (under shelter for now) Sweet peas and tomatoes (enough germinated to feed an army!), cucumber, cayenne and broccoli (well purple sprouting) in the sunshine in my utility room. Must mention Caroline , that your idea of using the glass out of old photo frames for propagation was genius! went straight to the garage and de-framed. I am a wheelchair gardener based in Suffolk these days. (I mean I use a wheelchair not grow them!!) x

‘Thumbs up’ to the joy of sowing & planting. My window sills are full of veg seeds embracing warmth & light, the miracle of this fills my heart with such joy. Give them the right conditions they will grow. A bit like us humans 🥔🥕🧅🫜🫛🥬🍓❤️❤️

Thank you Caroline. I enjoy your blog and videos. Still snow on the ground and bulbs barely peeking out where it’s bare here in eastern Canada. But there is warmth in the sun and I have seeded peppers, begonias, geraniums, petunias, rudbeckia, onion , and more. 😎
